Kara Zlotnick, Ph.D.
|
Kara Zlotnick, Ph.D. is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of
Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Zlotnick specializes in the evaluation, assessment and treatment
of children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She has expertise in evidence-based
treatment for children and adolescents. Dr. Zlotnick interned at Kings County Hospital
Center where she provided care to severely ill youth and developed her experience in
psychological assessment and family therapy. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship
in clinical psychology at the Children's Hospital of New York at Columbia Presbyterian
Medical Center where she further honed her skills in group therapy, crisis intervention
and evidence-based treatment. In addition, Dr. Zlotnick has trained at Northwestern
Memorial Hospital, University of Chicago, and Cook County Hospital. She has presented
her research on adolescent risk behaviors and school transitions at several national
conferences.
Dr. Zlotnick is Coordinator of the Center's Group Therapy Program. She also provides
psychotherapy to children and adolescents with behavioral, mood, or anxiety disorders as
well as youth with comorbid medical diagnoses. Dr. Zlotnick's therapeutic approach with
children utilizes both cognitive-behavioral and play therapy techniques. She is skilled
in cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, play, and family systems psychotherapy for
children, adolescents, young adults, and families.
